[Moiph]

The server rules/info thread has had many posts regarding micspam; we get reports in game about micspam; people have messaged me on steam about micspam; needless to say it is a topic with some issues and I'm making a separate thread for it.

When the server started up, it was mostly intended to just be pony related stuff because, well, that was the server theme.  However some people wanted to throw in some other things to the mix, and as long as people were enjoying it and it wasn't obnoxious, then it was fine.  We haven't and DO NOT tolerate micspam that is obnoxious, repetitive loops, unintellible nonsense or screaming, inappropriate stuff, etc.  The "not allowed" list is larger than the "ok" list in fact, so I'll specify out specifically what is okay below.  Pre-ponies this server didn't even allow any micspam pony or not, besides random small clips (Oblivion related for example that I still use time to time).

What IS okay:

• Pony music
  
• Some non-pony music (e.g. various techno or classical is all right, I realize "obnoxious" is open to interpretation so this is the greyest area). Basically we don't want songs that are swearing or using racial slurs every other sentence.
  
• Short voice clips (pony is best but non pony is fine too, I myself have Oblivion things)

SHARING IS CARING
After you've played a song, you must relinquish the mic for another player to use.  If you are just chiming in with short voice clips it's okay to jump over something else SPARINGLY for amusement.  If you're doing this more than once a minute even, it's too much and we'll eat your soul.  If you stop playing, and no one else jumps in for 15 seconds, you're welcome to take another turn.  But if someone does want to jump in and they were just delayed (maybe they were busy ubering) then you should be friendly and let them play. Thankfully I think people already do a nice job here <3

I've also LOWERED the votemute threshold to 30%; so, please do use it as needed.  (It was previously 50%).

THE PUNISHMENTS
While I realize what's "good" music wise is very open to interpretation, if you do things like loop 7 minute weeaboo songs you're going to get kicked/banned/and or perma muted. So don't do that.  If you're playing actual stuff and people aren't fans, don't take it the wrong way, just stop and pick something else.  The easiest way of course to not have issues here is to play some pony music. And some nice classical is never bad.  Or Rush. I love Rush.

If you have comments/suggestions/complaints/ideas post and let us know.
And as always /report if there are issues with someone, and if someone gets multiple offense we'll just forcefully remove them from the server.

This may get updated on how things go so we may add/modify rules (though this should be pretty good..).  If that happens I'll add a reply in here as well.

Probably The Camera Eye.  But that's a bit long for in game   So for a shorter one I'll say Subdivisions (saw that one live last summer and damn it was awesome    Actually moving pictures was played so I saw camera eye as well  )

Well i think banning people is a little extreme. Like seriously too extreme. We dont want to initiate a nazi regime, do we?
As for Rush, I dont really care for them all that much.

Banning is not extreme if the situation calls for it. We have had people in server before that would not quit with ear rape until they were banned. Banning is a final measure after we have tried everything else. For example: people like this ( ) come in and ~retry after they are muted. After rejoining they keep spamming. At that point there would be a kick. If they came back and kept spamming there would be a 24 hour ban. If they came back after that and did it again it would be permanent.

All these rules seem reasonable to me. I try to do this anyway so it works for me. The only time I constantly mic spam is when nopony else will.

I was on a server last night where they had a plugin that autodetects micspam (if they've had their voice chat on for more than X seconds) and pops up a votey thing so players can vote whether they want it to continue. The votes are (1) Don't care, (2) Yes, and (3) No, so if people blindly hit 1 or actually don't care, it counts as a null vote. If No wins, the person is force-muted for the next two minutes.

I forget the name of the plugin, but it printed its name in the chat area whenever the poll closed, so I could hunt it down if anyone's interested.

That's a nice idea but honestly I feel the votes would become more annoying than the micspam itself. Most songs played are over 2 minutes. At this point there is not a big enough problem to change the system.

Was holding off for a bit thinking about how I wanted to say this. Basically, these rules are no different than what we already have now and I don't think they'll change anything. As I've been saying, this server is becoming more of a micspam server than anything else. We played pony music because it's a pony server. It's not a Rush server (as much as I like Rush), nor is it whatever-music-you-like server. I understand that non-stop pony can get repetitive. HOWEVER, non-pony should be used really only for breaks between pony. We should be playing primarily pony music. The fact that there are 3 people that I know of that keep a consistent "DJ" in their name and go about with threads like http://www.ponychan....g/res/5852.html trying to aquire songs to play isn't exactly helping. Micspam shouldn't be a central part of the server, it's tertiary to gameplay and environment.

TL;DR Play pony not whatever music you feel like.

The man has a valid point.
But to add to it, I know people keep saying it's repetitive, but it is your choice to be on the server. It's not like you have to be there. If you know it's gonna be pony music playing and you don't feel like it, why not just hold off on it for a day, rather than not wanting to hear something but walking into the inevitable?

If I wanted to play on a micspam server, I would play on any of the hundreds of crappy servers available. In the server's current state, it's really no different from any other micspam server out there, it just happens to have pony in the name.

Y'know, theres over an hour and a half of pony stuff to be played. I somewhat doubt a playlist that long could get old quickly. Just saiyan.

When I started, I did only pony music. However, I find people grow tired of pony music after so much and start to play their own, and usually, it's garbage. By putting the nonpony music under control in the form of requests I can do my part to moderate that garbage out. I started doing requests because it pleases the players and keeps people in a good mood when nonpony is being played. I try to keep my pony/nonpony ratio to about 60/40, but we need variety or the server will get boring fast.

Alright, this is getting out of hand real bloody fast. I happened to join the 1st server today (second server was full and first wasn't, whaddya know), and the micspamming was god damn ridiculous. I played for about a half hour before even 1 pony song was played. And in the whole hour and a half or so I was there, I heard about 5-6 pony songs I think. I don't care if you play 60/40 DJ Dash with everyone else in that place pony's at like 10% maybe, and that's a generous estimate because I didn't count the non-pony songs exactly. This needs to change, badly. People need to be told that it's a god damn pony server, not a micspam server, and that if you wanna play non-pony do it after pony has been played for a while. Yes, I mad. I very mad. And before you say "well it's just chance, you were there on a bad night" realize that the reason that I brought this up with Moiph in the first place is because it's a problem that's been happening for a while, and that's getting worse, if anything. I'm honestly considering abandoning the server, and I REALLY don't want to. I want to make it better, but we need some moderation.

Is it any better on the second server?
