I'm really really stoked for a few upcoming games this year and next. Not so stoked about the amount of money I'll be spending on them, but hey, them's the brakes.

They are adding a keyboard peripheral, and a new "pro" mode with 1:1 accurate playing of the songs on their respective instruments. For the keyboard, this means playing the notes on the 25-key controller. For the drums, this means playing every hit including the cymbals, accurately (they are coming out with a new 3-cymbal kit and you'll have to hit the correct cymbal for hi-hat, crash, ride). And for guitar/bass, this means a whole new level: they are releasing two new guitars - one which has real strings that you strum with a pick, and over 100 buttons on the fretboard for accurate play, and one which is a REAL 6-string electronic guitar, which functions as a MIDI controller outside of the game but has extra electronics built in to allow the console to be able to detect when you are holding a string down on the fretboard.

I am seriously... so excited. I am going to buy way too much crap for this game. But hey, I'm already very invested with all the other instruments from the games so far and probably over $100 in song downloads.

A remake of the classic GoldenEye 007 for the N64, but with updated graphics, the likeness of Daniel Craig, and some minor changes to reflect the time that has passed since the original game and film were released. It's surely going to have an awesome multiplayer mode and tons of replayability like the original. They're releasing a special edition version of the game for $69.99 that includes a gold Classic Controller Pro so you can truly be "the man with the golden gun"!

Not a whole lot of information is out about this game other than what they talked about at E3 - but the graphical style is going to be a mix of the cel shading found in Wind Waker and the DS games & the true-to-life graphics from Twilight Princess. In addition, it is going to have 1:1 sword combat courtesy of the Wii MotionPlus peripheral. All Zelda fans should be excited about this.

Okay, so this one isn't a game but a console. Nintendo has been going crazy lately with releasing new handheld iterations of its classic dual screen handheld from 2004: first the DS Lite, then the DSi, and followed shortly thereafter by the DSi XL. Now, they are releasing the 3DS which in addition to being able to play the existing catalog of DS games, also is capable of rendering true 3D without glasses using a new kind of technology that involves crossing your eyes or some such - should be interesting. So, there will be a new catalog of 3DS games yet to be released. I am excited for this, very excited. They are bringing out the big guns to compete with Apple and the likes of the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Anyways, Here's a little test of something I might make later on in my life when I have time, or when I'm bored.

The maps a little test of two bosses in the map, and you also use Twilight, Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash.

The Attacks and such aren't well made so I used default stuff I got from RPG Maker VX.

We all know them... Those couple novelty weapons that just aren't good for anything or that have no reason to be used against other choices in it's slot. Well instead of talking just about how bad and pointless they are. What about talking about how they could be buffed to stand up against the other choices in their category?

For example, I propose a bit of a radical change for the medic. Since there is no reason to use his basic bonesaw over the solemn vow, amputator or the ubersaw, I suggest giving the medic an alternate fire on his bonesaw/Vitasaw/possibly ubersaw (vita and uber already have downsides so they could get it too), which removes bleed (and maybe milk/jarate?) on an ally in front of him (a la extinguish). This buffs the medic's utility overall (which I think was the intention of valve with the solemn voice/amputator) without replacing an existing weapon. I mean it's not like Valve's ever added a new mechanic to a class so make them more versatile *cough, cough* airblast *cough*. Any thoughts on this? Do you think it's necesary? Ideas of your own?

(no complaining about enforcer / DR / other silly strong weapons here, we have enough of those topics and everyone already knows what's OP so let's look at UP instead)

My Suggestions to Improve Legion of Ponies TF2 servers

It has come to my attention that many people who used to play on the Legion of Pony servers are dissatisfied with the current state of the servers and no longer play on the servers because of it. I have talked to a few of those who are dissatisfied and they have told me their reasons. So I will now suggest to the community what I believe would help improve the servers and make the servers more fun and enjoyable to be on.

Only List Ranks On The Website
I believe this will cut down on the spam of people constantly typing rank commands to show off how much points they have accumulated on the server. This will also shift the focus away from points and ranks to just having fun on the server instead of tryharding and telling their team how bad they are at TF2 which is not fun for anyone. For people who love points and ranks will most likely come to the site to check their rank. I believe this will increase traffic to the website and possibly the forums and IRC as well. I believe this will make the servers fun for those who want to have fun without constant tryhards and epeens springing up everywhere, while at the same time making it fun for people who like to keep a track of their performance.

~~Bring Back The Old Codec~~
If you played on Legion of Ponies before TF2 got the new codec you would know that almost everyone on the server micspammed and HLDJ was extremely popular. I loved HLDJ and would make all these different pony sound bytes to play on the server. Yes it was chaos but it in my opinion it was good chaos and mostly everyone followed the "only one song at a time" rule. If people didn't like the micspam they could either voice_enable 0 or just went to SCOUTSNKNIVES which was made to get away from the micspamming and mostly just chillax with bros you knew from the other LoP servers. I think when people voted that the servers would use the new codec I think they were excited for the new codec and was expecting someone to make a micspamming program for the new codec soon. It has been months but no such program has been made and the people behind HLDJ refuse to make a HLDJ for the new codec. So now we have about 8 DJs who either had to buy or pirate Virtual Audio Cable or found some other way to micspam their playlist on their media player who play the same exact songs over and over and with little variation. There can be hours where Legion of Ponies can be dead silent and wanting a DJ but no one on the server has the program to do it. This also makes the non micspam server completely pointless since if there is one micspammer that can be easily muted through the TF2 menu. Which is also why I believe SCOUTSNKNIVES is empty all the time except when Kai and her friends come online. I believe that bringing HLDJ back will make the servers fun for those who like to make a little noise while at the same time bring more people to SCOUTSNKNIVES who just want to relax from all the micspam.

Fix The Voting System
I can't stress this enough that the current voting system is broken and has turned from a vote system into a rotation system where the same 5 maps get played. This gets really boring and tiring after a while and for some reason nominating different maps only works some of the time. When the voting screen comes up the list should be mixed up everytime (unless someone nominates) with both stock and custom maps so the same maps don't get played over and over. I believe that this will make the servers fun for those who don't like playing the same 5 maps over again.

Add More Custom Maps
This is something that I have suggested before but might as well bring up again since the first time suggesting it didn't seem to work. Valve can make some really nice and fun maps but we need something different. Valve can't provide this difference fast enough since they only make one map every four or so months. We are PC gamers, one of the best things about PC gaming is custom content which includes custom maps. I know you may have played a bad custom map before but there are so many good TF2 maps that there is no reason to not have them on Legion of Ponies.

~~Close The Server To Randoms~~
When the staff decided to open Legion of Ponies to randoms they wanted to fill up Legion of Ponies servers for the school season. However it has attracted many foul people who actually try to make the servers as unfun as possible to play on. This is also one of the big reasons many regulars left because of all the nasty randoms that would come. Though some randoms have been genuinely nice and glad they found the server randomly but there is just too many bad randoms coming from it.

~~Give Donators Colored Chat Text~~
This isn't a big issue but I think it would make donators feel more special if their text was a different colors than those who haven't donated. I don't think colored text is too much since I don't think you have to download anything for it and it reminds donators that they donated to Legion of Ponies without waiting for the round to end to be reminded of it. I mean the end round invuln, the ability to change hat color, and having reserved slots is nice but maybe this could be that little nice thing to add. Besides it could even convince others to donate as well. Also they should not be in the same color as weapon color text because it can get annoying.

Bring Back 24/7 Party Mode
Once again not a big issue but this made the servers feel more pony and besides playing with the beach ball was always fun.

Themed Parties
I know Sacredragon is in charge of the parties but from what I witnessed its just get togethers with prizes attatched. Maybe from time to time we could have themed parties like 4 heavies vs an entire server of melee only scouts. Just something that I think would be cool.

Well thats it for my suggestions but now I would like to know what the community feels about my suggestions. Do you agree or disagree with my suggestions? Are there suggestions you would like to add? Please let me know in a constructive manner so we can make the servers a better place to play on.

Because man, the LoP servers are the opposite of it now. In opening them up and letting random dregs in, the servers have turned to shit. I will not sugar-coat this, the servers are shit now. Aimbotters that no one will ban, trolls that no one will ban, people too stupid to play the game right (ie, people who don't even bother trying to win), people whining about music and pony sprays constantly, and almost none of the old regulars.

Did the regulars migrate somewhere? Or did they, like me, get sick of this nonsense and just find other pony servers to play the game on? Or just quit entirely? Ones that aren't open to randoms and griefers? By all means, if they're somewhere else, let me know. I want to play with good, intelligent people again instead of the idiots we get on the LoP servers these days.

Last week, I've not had a single good, fun game on the servers. Not a one. There's always at least one or two people shitting on everyone else and not putting forth any effort, if not outright cheating. Hard to want to play when you'll just get aimbot-killed right after leaving spawn. Voteban doesn't do shit since people are too lazy to hit a button, apparently.

I dunno. It's sad. I found the LoP servers not long after I bought TF2 last year. I've clocked over 600 hours since, most on the LoP servers. But the old crowd has trickled away, and it didn't start happening until after the servers were opened up to randoms. Oh, we have a few cool people still showing up. But everyone I originally played with is MIA at this point. I saw a DJ Elusive recently, and for a moment I got excited, thinking our favorite diva had returned. Alas, twas not the case.

This post won't get anything done, I know that. The old crowd won't come back. The servers won't be delisted. It's nice to think that we could return to having quality servers filled with good players. But that simply won't ever happen. It's frustrating and it's depressing. Without good players around, the game's stopped being fun for me. Playing against regulars is fun. You make friends that way. No one's making friends with these assholes who pop on and piss in the punch. No one's stopping them, either.

tl;dr: There's not a lot of magic or friendship on the servers anymore. I think I'm gonna leave, too. Why stay when no one seems to give a damn?

I was sent here from Pony Fortress 2(I'm not advertising!). Because...well they didn't really like me so they kicked me to the moon. And the server owner told me "Go to Legion of Ponies. They're 20% cooler than here".

Kickstarter has kicked up some popularity recently when Tim Schafer from Double Fine asked gamers for $300,000 so he could make a old school point and click adventure game. Instead of just giving him the $300,000 to make his game, gamers gave him over 3 million dollars. This started a trend where video game developers who want funding for their game but can't get any from publishers now can beg the internet for money. There are now a handful of projects just begging for you to search your heart (wallet) and help fund them their game. I decided to make a thread about it so we can all discuss the many different Kickstarter projects.

Legion of Ponies title screen modification

I have made a set of files that, when installed, will cause your tf2 title screen to look like this:

Those buttons lead to the respective servers that the buttons are named for. This is my first mod and it took a part of yesterday and today after someone said in irc that donators need to type into console to get to reserved slots.

This will most likely be nice for donators because this connects you to reserved slots if the server is full and you are a donator. I will constantly try to improve this mod and if you have any ideas please email me or post here. Right now if the server is full and you are not a donator you will disconnect, so i will attempt to find ways to fix this.

There is a file with instructions on how to install, please look at it if you are not aware of where the files should go or look just below:

Place GameMenu.res inside of the [Steam/SteamApps//team fortress 2/tf/resource] folder.
Place MainMenuOverride.res inside of the [Steam/SteamApps//team fortress2/tf/resource/ui] folder.

Hi there. I am ThatGuyWhoDoesThings. I am a guy who does things. "What type of things?" you may ask? Well, I am mainly into computer gaming shenanigans, but I also enjoy taking apart computers, reassambling them, and hoping that I put it back together right. I also enjoy biking (which reminds me, I need to get air in my tires again), and if I had the room for a drum kit, drumming.

So, why am I here? Another good question. A few months back, I discovered your wonderful TF2 server, and I "fell in love" with it, so to speak. So, I guess that is what brings me here, finally, to get to know you wonderful people even more.

What is my favorite class in TF2? The Medic. I enjoy nothing more than aiding a bulky Heavy or a drunk Demoman clear out sentries, or when I am on defence, giving them a good old Kritzkrieg charge to mow down droves of players.

Any other information is irrelivant at this point. If you want to know more, just ask. I am always willing to tell some more about myself. For now, I think this will suffice.
